30th Celebration Battle Deck: Pay $19.99, Not the Presale

Two all-foil 60-card decks for $19.99 each on October 30, with a Victini or Zeraora promo. Presale copies cost two to three times that, and the ex on the box is already a $1 card.

The 30th Celebration Battle Deck lists at $19.99 a box, and it's out on October 30. On October 20, the cheapest US presale copy on TCGplayer was $43.28 for the Espeon ex deck and $61.38 for the Umbreon ex deck, two and three times list for boxes TCGplayer estimates will ship on October 30, launch day.

Part 7 of 11The story so far:30th Celebration product release dates

There are two decks, one led by Espeon ex and one by Umbreon ex. Pokémon says each is an all-foil 60-card deck with a deck box, a playmat, a coin and an illustration rare-style promo: Victini with Espeon ex, Zeraora with Umbreon ex. What's in the box comes first, then our verdict, how the presale price moved and how hard launch day may be. The rest of this fall's sealed products are in our Pokémon TCG products guide.

Overview: what's in the 30th Celebration Battle Deck

Pokémon's product page lists the contents of each box as "60 foil cards," "1 deck box," "1 playmat" and "1 coin." TCGplayer's listing adds damage counters, a strategy sheet and a code card to play the deck online. There are no booster packs, so nothing in the box is random.

Pokémon calls the promos exclusive, and they're the deck's real draw. Victini's Call for Family puts up to two Basic Pokémon on your Bench, and Zeraora's Electrobullet does 50, plus 20 to one of your opponent's Benched Pokémon.

Our verdict on the 30th Celebration Battle Deck

Wait for October 30 and pay $19.99. Best Buy already lists the deck at that price with a 10/30/2026 release date, though its listing is "1 Battle Deck per Order" and "Styles May Vary," so you may not get to pick Espeon or Umbreon there. Pokémon says it'll be sold at the Pokémon Center "and where Pokémon TCG products are sold." A presale copy costs $23.29 more for Espeon ex and $41.39 more for Umbreon ex, and TCGplayer's estimated ship date is October 30 anyway.

If you only want the Pokémon on the box, buy the single. The Espeon ex and Umbreon ex printed on the box fronts have the same attacks and HP as the 30th Celebration Double Rares, which had market prices of $0.78 and $1.10 on October 20. What the deck adds is the Victini or Zeraora promo, the 60 foil cards and the accessories, and that's worth list price to a player or a sealed collector, not $61.38.

What would change our mind

If launch week comes and the stores near you have no stock, the presale stops looking silly for Espeon ex, which sat between $36.42 and $47.63 a week through September and October. Umbreon ex is different: in the week of October 19 its deck cost $18.47 more than Espeon's, and we'd still wait.

30th Celebration Battle Deck price: two decks, two paths

On TCGplayer's presale, the Espeon ex deck started at $81.93 and the Umbreon ex deck at $91.57 in the week of June 29. Umbreon ex fell to about $34 by mid-August, Espeon ex to about $37 by the end of August. Then Umbreon ex climbed back.

Line chart of TCGplayer market price by week for the Umbreon ex and Espeon ex Battle Decks: both fall from about $90 and $82 in late June, Umbreon to $34 by mid-August and Espeon to $37 by late August, then Umbreon rises to $69 by late September and sits at $61.60 on October 19 while Espeon sits at $43.13, against the list price lineLine chart of TCGplayer market price by week for the Umbreon ex and Espeon ex Battle Decks: both fall from about $90 and $82 in late June, Umbreon to $34 by mid-August and Espeon to $37 by late August, then Umbreon rises to $69 by late September and sits at $61.60 on October 19 while Espeon sits at $43.13, against the list price line Chart: SetPulls. Umbreon ex. The deck's market price went from $91.57 in the week of June 29 to $34.43 in the week of August 17, then doubled to $69.13 by the week of September 28, a 101% climb. On October 19 it was $61.60. The Umbreon page counted 605 sold over three months, and the last five sales on October 18 and 19 were all between $61.38 and $61.40.

Espeon ex. It fell from $81.93 to $36.42 by the week of September 7 and sat near $37 until the week of September 28, when it jumped to $47.63. It has stayed between $43.13 and $46.14 since, $43.13 on October 19. Its page counted 546 sold, and the cheapest of its 12 US listings was $43.28 with free shipping.

Same price, same contents, same launch day, and in the week of October 19 one cost $18.47 more. Neither product page lists any other difference than the lead Pokémon and its promo. A premium like Umbreon's isn't the norm for a Battle Deck: half of the 22 other Battle Decks on the first page of TCGplayer's results on October 20 sat between $15.18 for the Mega Lucario ex League Battle Deck and $24.73 for the ex Battle Deck with Greninja ex. A few cost far more, led by the Dragapult ex League Battle Deck at $124.63, the Mew VMAX League Battle Deck at $68.82, the Mega Gengar ex Mega Battle Deck at $62.48 and Rival Battle Deck Marnie at $61.73.

A six-deck case was $273.53 with free shipping, $45.59 a deck. That's cheaper per deck than one Umbreon ex copy, but the listing says six decks and "2 of each design," which can't both be right, so you can't be sure of the mix.

Japan's version: both decks in one box

Japan got these decks a different way. Its 30th Celebration Premium Deck Set put both decks in one ¥6,200 box with a tin double deck case and four full arts, including Espeon ex 043/040 and Umbreon ex 044/040, according to Tokyo Card Report. Pokémon's English page doesn't mention a full-art ex or a tin, so don't buy the English box expecting either.

How hard will it be to get one at $19.99?

The presale price doesn't tell you, because it came first. TCGplayer's market price was already $81.93 for the Espeon ex deck and $91.57 for the Umbreon ex deck in the week of June 29, ten weeks before Target opened preorders on September 11. The premium was there before anyone had tried to buy a copy at list.

Target's drop put both Battle Decks next to the 30th Celebration booster bundle box and mini tins, and the r/PKMNTCGDeals thread had people who went home with nothing. u/zaya47 (6 points) summed up the drop as a whole: "Congratulations! You've been waiting a while here's your reward sleep deprivation and not a dang thing!!!! Hope it was worth the insomnia!"

The deck itself looked easier. Later that morning, u/jll027 posted that the "Umbreon battle deck" was "up and way easier to get in the cart." That's one person during one online preorder, not launch-day shelves, but it's the only first-hand report we found on the deck rather than the whole drop. It suggests a $19.99 copy is within reach on or after October 30 without paying the presale.

Best Buy lists the deck too, though its page showed the list price and "Unavailable" on October 20, so it couldn't be ordered there that day, and Pokémon's line about "where Pokémon TCG products are sold" means the deck isn't tied to one chain. Our guide to buying Pokémon cards at MSRP covers the store routes, and the release dates calendar has the rest of the October 30 releases.
