Delta Reign Build & Battle Box: Skip the $54.96 Presale

Four packs, a 40-card deck and one of four foil promos for $21.99. Presale copies cost two and a half times that, and the last three Build & Battle Boxes each fell to about $40 within weeks of release.

The Delta Reign Build & Battle Box with Mega Rayquaza on the front, beside Electivire, Druddigon and Adventure Lantern cards from its decks

The Delta Reign Build & Battle Box lists at $21.99, and on October 21 the cheapest US presale copy on TCGplayer was $54.96, two and a half times as much. A prerelease seat at a local store gets you the same box plus three more packs for $30 to $35, though the first-weekend seats at both stores we checked had sold out by October 20.

The box goes on sale at select Play! Pokémon stores on October 24, 2026, when the prerelease events start. For everyone else, Pokémon says the box goes on sale when the set launches on November 6, but distributor Mad Al lists the 10-box display's street date as November 20, and TCGplayer gives its presale copies the same estimated ship date. Our verdict comes first, then the four decks, what a pack costs by route and what happened to the last three boxes. Our Pokémon TCG products guide has the rest of this fall's sealed products.

Our verdict on the Delta Reign Build & Battle Box

Get it with a prerelease seat, or at $21.99 from a store, and skip the presale. A seat at a store such as Collector's Den in Virginia works out to $5.00 a pack with the promo and the deck included, and paying list costs $5.50. The cheapest presale copy costs $13.74 a pack for a box estimated to ship around November 20, and the three boxes before it had market prices between $37 and $42 on October 19. Our guide to buying Pokémon cards at MSRP covers the store routes if your local shop doesn't have it.

If you want a sealed box to keep, wait for retail stock rather than buy a $54.96 presale copy. Even after their drop, the earlier boxes sat near $40 on TCGplayer, well above Delta Reign's list price, so a copy bought at list starts with room to spare, and even the cheapest presale copy starts $13 to $18 above where those boxes settled.

What would change our mind

If TCGplayer's presale listings fall under about $40 before November 6, the skip-the-presale half of this call weakens. If the stores near you have no retail stock by launch week, the prerelease seat stays the cheapest route we found.

What's in the Delta Reign Build & Battle Box: four decks, four promos

Pokémon's prerelease page says each box holds four Delta Reign booster packs, "a 40-card, ready-to-play deck featuring key cards from current and prior expansions, and one of four unique foil promo cards." The retail listings at Miniature Market and TCGplayer add a code card for Pokémon TCG Live. The promo decides which deck you get, and the page describes each one.

PromoNumberWhat the deck builds around it
MasquerainMEP 111Bug Out with Sizzlipede and Spinarak; Masquerain needs one Grass Energy for the attack, and Sacred Ash returns Pokémon from the discard pile
MagmortarMEP 112Its Buddy Boost Ability attaches Fire and/or Lightning Energy to Magmortar or Electivire, and Electivire's Voltaic Hammer does 60 for each Energy discarded; Adventure Lantern finds that Energy
EnamorusMEP 113Incarnate Solidarity, shared with Thundurus, Landorus and Tornadus; Landorus hits for 110 with one Fighting Energy
Kommo-oMEP 114Beat Scales attaches Energy to Dragon types, Hammer In does 170, and Druddigon is the second attacker

Pokémon doesn't say how the promo is picked, so a box is a one-in-four draw unless the store lets you choose. If you only collect, those four packs are most of what you're buying, and the prerelease puts them in your hands 13 days before the set's November 6 launch; our Pokémon TCG release dates calendar has the rest of the fall's dates.

Delta Reign Build & Battle Box price per pack, by route

The same four packs cost $5 or $17 apiece depending on where you get the box. We divided each route's price by the packs it gets you:

Bar chart of one Delta Reign pack by route: Dragon's Lair prerelease seat $4.29, Collector's Den prerelease seat $5.00, list price $5.50, Chaos Rising box after release $10.44, cheapest US presale listing $13.74, presale market price $17.43Bar chart of one Delta Reign pack by route: Dragon's Lair prerelease seat $4.29, Collector's Den prerelease seat $5.00, list price $5.50, Chaos Rising box after release $10.44, cheapest US presale listing $13.74, presale market price $17.43 Chart: SetPulls. Prerelease seat. Collector's Den in Culpeper, Virginia, charges "$35 Entry Per Person" and lists "1 Build & Battle Box" and "3 Additional Booster Packs" under what the entry includes. That's seven packs, $5.00 each. On October 20 its October 24 and 25 sessions showed "Out of stock", while October 30 and November 1 were still open. Per Dragon's Lair's event page, read October 20, its Austin store asks $30 online or $35 in store for its October 25 event, says players who play at least two rounds get three Delta Reign packs, and warns "THERE WILL NOT BE A TAKE HOME OPTION." That event showed "SOLD OUT" when we read it. A seat means opening the box to build the deck, so you keep the cards, not a sealed box.

List price. The Lab TCG's distributor list and Miniature Market's preorder page both put the box at $21.99, or $5.50 a pack. Miniature Market's preorder was out of stock on October 20, with a limit of six per customer and US-only shipping.

Presale. TCGplayer's presale page, read again at 02:01 UTC on October 21 with a US shipping address, had 18 listings. The cheapest was $54.96 with free shipping, $13.74 a pack, with another at $54.95 plus $0.99 shipping; the next two asked $59.94 and $59.95, and the rest started at $65.90. A day earlier the cheapest had been $66.94. The market price barely moved, $69.71 against $69.92: it follows recent sales, and the latest, on October 20, was one copy at $65.99, after an October 19 order of two at $69.93 each plus $10 shipping.

The last three Build & Battle Boxes fell to about $40 within weeks of release

Each of this year's earlier boxes followed the same path on TCGplayer: $65 to $75 in its first presale weeks, then a drop around release, then a flat line between about $37 and $44.

TCGplayer weekly market prices from each product's one-year history; for Delta Reign, 18 days before release is the week of October 19. Perfect Order's 10-to-17-day figure is its week starting April 6; Chaos Rising's, June 8; Pitch Black's, July 27.

From 18 days before release to October 19, the three boxes lost 35% to 45%. Delta Reign's box is higher than any of them was at that point. If it follows the same path, it would land somewhere around $39 to $46, which is our projection from three boxes, not a forecast anyone published. The older boxes still sell: Pitch Black's page counted 522 sold over three months, Chaos Rising's 119 and Perfect Order's 112, and the cheapest US listings ran $34.99 plus $1 shipping, $37.98 and $36.13 plus $6.50.

The timing matters too. Pokémon's page says the boxes "will be available for purchase when the expansion officially launches", but Mad Al dates the display November 20, while the booster box, the Elite Trainer Box and the Booster Bundle carry November 6. A presale buyer pays two and a half times list for a box that's estimated to ship 27 days after the prerelease seats open.

What collectors say about these boxes

Some Delta Reign boxes were already loose before any prerelease. In an r/PokeInvesting thread on October 9, u/Ok_Sand7630 posted a card and wrote "Got a booster box and 6 build and battles early". Asked what they paid for "these DR products", they answered "$260 for the Booster Box, $33/pc for the Build and Battle", and said the boxes came from Facebook Marketplace. u/whodat_617 (3 points) wasn't impressed: "Build&Battles and booster boxes? Isn't that what makes up the pre-release kits? So it's all either stolen, or a local shop decided to break street date when the cards when supposed to be for a pre-release event." We can't tell which it was. What the $33 suggests is that early copies changed hands at about 60% of the presale's cheapest listing.

Older sealed boxes can climb, but that's a different case. On October 15, an r/PokemonTCG poster traded an Evolving Skies Build & Battle Box for three 30th Celebration booster bundles, and the top replies called it a bad trade. u/zangor (71 points) priced both sides, "Evolving skies build and battle: $300" against "3x 30th Booster Bundle: $210", and was gentler than the top replies: "It's not the best … but not the absolute worst." Those are eBay prices for one box from an older set; this year's three boxes sat between $37 and $42 on October 19.

Selling them isn't always easy either. In an r/PokeInvesting thread from May that called a Destined Rivals Build & Battle display "the play", u/SllepsCigam (12 points) answered from their own boxes:

"As someone who's had these for fusion strike and other sets these are difficult to sell to the average person or vendor." TCGplayer's counts are mixed on that: Pitch Black's box sold 522 copies in three months and Perfect Order's 112, at prices far under their presale highs.
