The Delta Reign Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box with Mega Rayquaza on the front, next to its two full-art Kyogre promo cards, one with a Pokémon Center logo

The Delta Reign Pokémon Center ETB had a $373.64 TCGplayer market price on October 21, 2026, 3.5 times the regular Delta Reign ETB's $106.89. Pokémon Center's own price is $59.99, for two more packs and a second Kyogre promo with a Pokémon Center logo.

If you're weighing a presale copy, or you've got a preorder on the way and can't decide whether to open it, the eight Pokémon Center ETBs from earlier Mega Evolution sets are the useful record. They cost 1.6 to 2.5 times their regular ETBs today. Six of them have prices from before release, and all six were cheaper four weeks after release than in their last presale week.

What's in the Pokémon Center box that isn't in the regular one

Pokémon Center's product page, read on October 21, lists the box at $59.99, marked "UNAVAILABLE", with a "Purchase limit of 2." and shipping expected in early November. Bill's Archive lists it as a Pokémon Center exclusive and reports that preorders opened on September 30 and the first wave sold out within hours.

The rest is the usual ETB kit: 65 sleeves, Energy cards, dice, a player's guide and a storage box. One detail differs by source. TCGplayer's listing for the Pokémon Center box says 45 Energy and a box with 4 dividers, the same as its regular ETB listing. Pokémon Center's page says 40 Energy, 6 dividers and a plastic coin. We'd go with Pokémon Center's page, since it's the one shipping the box.

Pokémon Center ETB vs regular ETB, per pack

At Pokémon Center's price the exclusive box is a dime cheaper per pack than the regular one at list. On TCGplayer it's almost three times the regular ETB per pack.

So what does the extra $266.75 between the two market prices buy? Two more packs, worth $21.68 at the loose-pack price. And the stamped Kyogre, which doesn't have a price yet. The eight Mega Evolution promos TCGplayer lists as Pokémon Center Exclusive ranged from $20.57 (Zarude) to $71.06 (Alakazam) on October 21. The stamp is most of that: Tyrunt with the Pokémon Center logo was $29.33, the same card without it $1.81.

Give the Kyogre the top of that range and the packs and promo come to $92.74. The other $174.01 is what buyers are paying for a sealed box that only Pokémon Center sold, two weeks before anyone can open one.

Our read: don't pay presale, don't open a sealed preorder for the money

Don't buy the Delta Reign Pokémon Center ETB at a presale price. Six earlier Pokémon Center ETBs had a price before release, and all six were cheaper four weeks after it; the record is in the next section. We'd expect Delta Reign's to be cheaper after November 6 too, because it's following the same line, but that's judgement, not data.

If your preorder arrives in November, keep it sealed unless the packs were the point. No earlier Mega Evolution Pokémon Center ETB was under $119.16 on October 21, and opening it gives that up.

"There's a reason you get 2! Rip one open one," u/IBleedBlueBlood wrote in a September 16 r/PokemonTCG thread asking whether there's any reason not to open a Pokémon Center ETB. A reply pointed out what that plan adds up to: "He said he would rip one and open one. Or in other terms, rip both." If you got two preorders, one sealed and one opened is a fair split. And if it's packs you're after, the regular ETB at its $49.99 list is the better buy; our Pokémon cards at MSRP guide covers where it turns up at that price.

The record: eight earlier Pokémon Center ETBs

They cost 1.6 to 2.5 regular ETBs

Eleven packs against nine is 1.22 times the packs. Every Pokémon Center ETB from the Mega Evolution era costs more than that multiple on TCGplayer, and none of the eight already released costs as much as Delta Reign's presale does.

That gives a way to test two things collectors say. In the same September 16 thread, u/Nado87 wrote: "You can probably trade your Pokemon Centre ETB for two non PC ETB's if you are looking to open it." By TCGplayer's market price, that held on October 21 for Ascended Heroes and 30th Celebration, at about 2.5 each, and not for the other six, which sat between 1.6 and 1.9.

Ten days later, on r/PokeInvesting, someone asked whether to swap a regular 30th Celebration ETB for a Pitch Black Pokémon Center ETB. "1000% would do that trade. PC almost anything > regular almost anything provided they're not wildly different eras," u/MuTangClan answered. u/Glittering-Chip-9019 disagreed: "Depends price paid. I'm gonna go against everyone on this one and say 30th etb outperforms the PB PC Etb." On October 21 the two were $0.48 apart at market, $119.16 for the Pitch Black box and $118.68 for the 30th Celebration one. Less than a month isn't a verdict on either of them, but "almost anything" is doing a lot of work there.

Price paid is the whole question for a preorder. On October 4, asked on r/PokeInvesting whether to sell a Destined Rivals Pokémon Center ETB, u/iamsplitter described doing it: "I was lucky enough to get 4 of these from the multiple drops when they happened. $60 ea. They hit $500 each so I sold 3 of them…" Then the condition: "So depends on your entry. If you bought the top you will have to hold for a while." A $59.99 preorder is that kind of entry. A presale copy is the other kind: for five of the six boxes in the next table, no week after release got back to the last presale price.

What six of them did in their release week

Six of the eight have a TCGplayer weekly price from before their release; the two Mega Evolution boxes don't, because TCGplayer's one-year chart starts a month after that set came out. For each of the six, we compared the market price in the last week before release with the release week, four weeks later, and October 21.

Source: TCGplayer price history for each box (weeks start on a Monday; "release week" is the one holding the release date) and market prices, read October 21, 2026. Changes are against the last presale week, our arithmetic.

Five of the six dropped in the release week itself, and all six were lower four weeks later, by 14% (Ascended Heroes) to 75% (Pitch Black). Two of those starting points are thin, though: Perfect Order's last presale week was 3 sales and Chaos Rising's was 4, so their -55% and -60% say which way the price went more than exactly how far. The other four had 10 to 33 sales that week. For four of the six, the release week was also the busiest week on TCGplayer's chart: Pitch Black's Pokémon Center box sold 572 copies that week, against 54 in all its presale weeks combined.

Line chart of weekly TCGplayer market prices for six Pokémon Center ETBs, from five weeks before release to eight weeks after: Perfect Order, Chaos Rising and Pitch Black fall to between $133 and $201 in the release week, Phantasmal Flames and 30th Celebration fall less steeply, Ascended Heroes holds until its third week, and Delta Reign's presale line falls from $531.63 to $373.64Line chart of weekly TCGplayer market prices for six Pokémon Center ETBs, from five weeks before release to eight weeks after: Perfect Order, Chaos Rising and Pitch Black fall to between $133 and $201 in the release week, Phantasmal Flames and 30th Celebration fall less steeply, Ascended Heroes holds until its third week, and Delta Reign's presale line falls from $531.63 to $373.64 Chart: SetPulls. Source: TCGplayer price history, read Oct 21, 2026. Delta Reign's last week is unfinished.

Ascended Heroes is the one that bent. Its box stayed between $339.85 and $346.60 for three weeks after the January 30 release, then fell to $241.18 in the week of February 16, on 538 sales, its busiest week by far. Then it climbed: by mid-March it was back above $380, and it peaked at $523.49 in the week of June 1. It spent 31 weeks above its last presale price before slipping to $330.49. It's the only one of the six that ever got back there. Phantasmal Flames bounced too, from $188.18 four weeks after release to $376.79 in May, still well short of its $543.37 presale week.

That's the part u/Ok-Temporary-8243 skipped in the same September thread: "It holds a lot of value and will appreciate." Measured from the presale, one of the six did for a while, and it's Ascended Heroes. On October 21 all six were below their last presale week, from 4% below (Ascended Heroes) to three quarters below (Pitch Black).

Delta Reign's box is already sliding before release. TCGplayer's weekly market went from $531.63 in the week of September 28 to $405.44 in the week of October 12, and the last four sales, five copies on October 20 and 21, went at $295 each. Only two US listings were up on October 21, though, so a handful of sellers is setting that price.

What would change our mind

Ascended Heroes is the warning: its release week was flat, the drop came three weeks later, and a buyer who held from the presale was ahead for most of the spring and summer. If Delta Reign's box is still above $300 four weeks after November 6 with release-week sales in the hundreds, the presale price will have been fair this time. We'll know by early December.
