The Delta Reign prerelease is the first time anyone can open real Delta Reign packs: events begin October 24, 2026, 13 days before the set's November 6 release. Pokémon's announcements cover the dates, the Build & Battle Box and four promos, but not US prices or the Elite Trainer Box contents. This page sorts what is official from what is still secondhand.

TL;DR: Delta Reign prerelease events start October 24, 2026 at participating stores. The Build & Battle Box holds four Delta Reign booster packs, a 40-card deck and one of four foil promos: Masquerain, Magmortar, Enamorus or Kommo-o. The set itself lands November 6 (November 5 on Pokémon TCG Live), with 14 illustration rares, 17 ultra rares and six special illustration rares.

When is the Delta Reign prerelease? (quick answer)

The Delta Reign prerelease starts on October 24, 2026. Pokémon's August 20 announcement says prerelease tournaments begin that day at participating independent retailers, and its September 28 prerelease article says select Play! Pokémon Stores start selling the Build & Battle Box the same day. Neither page gives an end date. Bill's Archive, a secondary source, lists the prerelease window as October 24 to November 1.

Key Takeaways

  • Dates: prerelease from October 24, 2026; Pokémon TCG Live on November 5; paper release November 6.
  • The box: four Delta Reign booster packs, a 40-card ready-to-play deck and one of four foil promos per Build & Battle Box.
  • Promos: Masquerain, Magmortar, Enamorus and Kommo-o, one per box at random.
  • The set: over 135 cards by Pokémon's count; Bill's Archive counts 103 main-set cards plus 37 secret rares.
  • Not official yet: US prices, Elite Trainer Box contents and pull rates.

Overview: what Delta Reign is

Delta Reign is the next English Pokémon TCG expansion in the Mega Evolution Series, and Mega Rayquaza ex headlines it. Pokémon's announcement says Mega Rayquaza returns to the game for the first time since the XY Ancient Origins expansion, alongside Mega Golurk ex, Mega Malamar ex and Mega Golisopod ex. It reaches participating retailers worldwide on November 6, 2026.

The official announcement lists the noteworthy cards as four Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, six Pokémon ex, six Stadium cards that form three Legendary Stadiums, 14 illustration rares, 17 ultra rares and six special illustration rares. The official Delta Reign page puts the set at over 135 cards, with more than 35 Pokémon and Trainer cards carrying special illustrations.

Bill's Archive gives the exact split: a 103-card main set with 37 secret rares above it, 140 cards in total. Those 37 secret rares match the official 14 + 17 + 6. Its card list numbers Mega Rayquaza ex at 084/103, Mega Golisopod ex at 011, Mega Golurk ex at 047 and Mega Malamar ex at 069, all Double Rares. Pokémon's own card database has no Delta Reign entries yet, so treat card numbers as secondary until it does.

English vs Japanese. Bill's Archive calls Delta Reign the English counterpart of the Japanese set Storm Emeralda, which Pokémon Japan released on July 31, 2026. The sets differ in size: Bill's Archive counts Storm Emeralda at 76 main-set cards plus 37 secret rares (113 in total), against 140 for Delta Reign. Card numbers in this article are English ones.

What's in the Delta Reign prerelease Build & Battle Box

The Build & Battle Box is the product you buy at a Delta Reign prerelease. Pokémon says each box contains four Mega Evolution Delta Reign booster packs, a 40-card ready-to-play deck featuring key cards from current and prior expansions, and one of four unique foil promo cards. Bill's Archive adds a Pokémon TCG Live code card.

For a collector, that means four packs of the new set 13 days before the general release, plus a foil promo with the Delta Reign logo on its art. Which promo you get depends on the deck in your box: Pokémon's article names Masquerain, Magmortar, Enamorus and Kommo-o, and you cannot pick.

Bill's Archive numbers the promos MEP 111 (Masquerain), MEP 112 (Magmortar), MEP 113 (Enamorus) and MEP 114 (Kommo-o), and notes that all four are new artworks of cards in the set with the Delta Reign logo on the illustration. If you want all four, that is four boxes at minimum, and only if no promo repeats.

What the box costs is not on any official page we read. Pokémon's prerelease article and announcement name the products but list no US price.

How Delta Reign prerelease events work

A Delta Reign prerelease is a casual in-store event built around the Build & Battle Box. Pokémon describes quick, fun battles in a Prerelease format that uses a 40-card deck with four Prize cards, instead of the usual 60-card deck with six Prize cards.

Timeline of Delta Reign dates in 2026: Storm Emeralda in Japan July 31, announcement August 20, prerelease details September 28, prerelease events October 24, Pokémon TCG Live November 5, English release November 6 Source: press.pokemon.com, pokemon.com, pokemon-card.com. Chart: SetPulls.

Pokémon points players to its Event Locator to find a participating store. Events run at select Play! Pokémon Stores, so not every shop that sells Pokémon cards will host one. Bill's Archive also reports that Pokémon Center preorders for Delta Reign opened on September 30.

Legendary Stadiums: the new card type to look for

Legendary Stadiums are the mechanical novelty of Delta Reign, and they matter to collectors because each one is two cards. Pokémon's announcement says a Legendary Stadium is created by combining two Stadium cards, played as a pair, which form one extended artwork when placed next to each other. The set has six such Stadium cards, making three Legendary Stadiums.

The two halves of Legendary Pyroduct, card numbers 094 and 095 of 103, placed side by side so their lava cave artwork joins into one picture Card image: pokemon.com. Arranged by SetPulls.

According to Pokémon, booster packs containing a Legendary Stadium include both halves needed to form it. Bill's Archive lists Legendary Pyroduct at 094 and 095, the pair shown above. For binder collectors, that means a matched pair arrives together instead of one half at a time.

Analysis: what is still not official

Pokémon's two announcements cover dates, the Build & Battle Box and the card mix. Several things collectors usually want before a release are missing as of October 10, 2026:

  1. US prices. The announcement says Delta Reign comes in booster packs, Elite Trainer Boxes and various collections, without prices.
  2. Elite Trainer Box contents. Confirmed as a product, not yet described by Pokémon.
  3. A full card list. Bill's Archive counts 50 English cards confirmed as of October 5; the other 90 are not shown in English.
  4. Pull rates and prices. No one can count pull rates before packs are opened in volume, and Bill's Archive notes the cards are not priced yet.

Until Pokémon or the Pokémon Center publishes contents and prices, treat figures from other sites as unconfirmed.

Release day itself may be crowded. Pokémon's 30th Celebration product showcase dates the Ultra-Premium Collection (Day and Night) to November 6 as well, and collectors have noticed. In an r/PokemonTCG thread about Delta Reign release day, one reply warned that "delta reigns releases the same day as the 30th UPC’s, so people are going to be lining up the night before" and added: "I wouldn’t expect to see anything in stores on release day unless you camp." That is one collector's expectation. If it holds, the prerelease Build & Battle Box is the calmer way to get early packs.

Our Take

Based on the facts cited above, the Delta Reign prerelease is the earliest way for collectors to open the set: four packs plus a foil promo with the Delta Reign logo, available 13 days before the November 6 release. The promo is random, so chasing all four means several boxes and no guarantee. Everything else, from ETB contents to which cards become the chase, is better judged once Pokémon publishes the full list and the first real pack counts arrive.
